How to teleidoscope in EYEEYE Mobile Mapper
2026-09-05
Teleidoscopes are kaleidoscopes with open lenses, allowing you to create mirrored visualizations of the world beyond the lens. EYEEYE is fully capable of operating as your digital teleidoscope on the go, right from your mobile device. The teleidoscope in EYEEYE works by placing a surface with a kaleidoscope special effect over the top of a surface set to "Camera." Here is how it works and how to set it up:
- You will want to start by creating a new surface in the Surfaces Panel, and then scale that surface to your full output area.
- Duplicate Surface 1, leaving you with two surfaces at full size (by default named Surface 1 and Surface 2)
- Go to Materials, select Surface 1, and set the material to "Camera"
- Within Materials, you can tap the next arrow to select Surface 2 as a shortcut to select the next surface without having to re-open the Surfaces Panel
- Select "Special" to open up special effects
- Pick "Kaleidoscope"
...now point your camera around to experience the teleidoscope in all its glory! You can adjust the number of kaleidoscope faces, the rotation, and mix it with other effects, as well as send it in real time to your projector for a teleidescopic projection mapping experience.
Or if you want, just use the download link to download a pre-built Teleidoscope project save file and import it into your EYEEYE app. It takes things a step further by adding some liquify and surface blending effects for you to play with. Enjoy!
